Divergent by Veronica Roth
In a future Chicago, 16-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all. From Goodreads.
Honestly there is not much I can say about this book except that I loved, loved it. It was definitely a great read. I was a little hesitant at first but once I got it and started reading it, I couldn’t put it down.
Tris or Beatrice, depending on who is talking to her, is one of the toughest and most selfless heroines out there right now. What she went through to become Dauntless is horrible; especially the way some of her other initiates treated her. The only good thing that came out of it was her friendships with Will and Christina. Also her getting to know Four and them falling for each other was also a highlight for her.
She learned so much about herself as time went on and she also decided that she wasn’t going to go down without fighting. Which helped her out when she finally got initiated as a member of the Dauntless, she finds out that another faction has plans to go to war with another faction for the power of the government. They plan on using every Dauntless person for their own personal soldiers, only they are killing all the government officials. Quite scary what people will do for power, but you know what they say about power. It corrupts almost everyone.
In the end people die and some people become murderers but their little group are now factionless because they ran from both factions. I can’t wait to read the second book to see what happens from there.
I give this book 6 out of 5 stars. It was that amazing.
