The Temptation by Alisa Valdes

His touch was electric.
His eyes were magnetic.
His lips were a temptation….
But was he real?

After crashing her car on an empty highway, Shane is miraculously saved by Travis, a mysterious cowboy who walks out of nowhere. She is instantly attracted to him, and for the first time, she believes in “soul mates.” But Shane soon discovers that Travis is dead and that strict rules from the Underworld govern kindred spirits of different dimensions. Breaking these rules could destroy both their souls. And while Travis is almost impossible to resist, temptation proves to be the kindest enemy they encounter.

Can true love surpass the power of pure evil? Part love story, part supernatural thriller, this first book in the Kindred trilogy will leave readers lusting for more! From Goodreads.

I love the whole Revenant thing, as you can obviously see from an earlier review of mine for the books by Amy Plum. But for some reason I really couldn’t get into this story. I get it being soul mates, I love those sappy stories. I don’t know what it was but it could have been because the book seem slow paced for me.

Shane has a boyfriend that she is debating on dumping, a best friend that after the car accident thinks she has gone crazy, and her mom that believes that too. Her biggest issue is that she almost died and met Travis and wants him so bad but he is technically dead. Also she thought she was being stalked by a demon that wanted to hurt Travis.

In totality the book was okay, I wouldn’t say it is a must read but it was a good book. I enjoyed the love story but it seemed a little to instantaneous for me, I kinda like them to work on it a little more than saving her and then thinking they need them more than anything. I am hoping I enjoy the second book more when that comes out.

I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
