Dark Frost by Jennifer Estep (Mythos Academy #3)

I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?

It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life. From Goodreads.

Ah I can’t wait for Crimson Frost to come out because of this book! So much happened in this book it was unbelievable that it was all able to fit in it. Logan and Gwen are kinda together. I mean he gave her a necklace for Christmas before he left and they hadn’t really talked about it since the break and all. Daphne and Carson are still going strong. Daphne and Gwen are still besties. Gwen and Oliver are becoming really good friends.

It starts out where Daphne, Carson, Gwen and Logan reunite at an exhibit that they are sent to for the myth-history class by Metis. Before Gwen and Logan can talk about everything, the museum is attacked by a bunch of Reapers. Luckily for Daphne, Carson, Gwen and Logan they are in the weapon’s room. So they attack back. Carson technically dies but Daphne comes into her powers which happen to be healing. She isn’t exactly thrilled about that, but she is so happy that Carson is okay.

Logan and Gwen fight, but this time it is big time. He finds out that she has known a little about his past since the fight with Preston when she used her psychometry to be able to fight him with Logan’s memories of fighting. I kind of understand why he is upset but there was no reason to say the things he did to her. She finds out that Nickamedes and her mom used to date and that they were in love with each other. Weird but she takes it as it is.

The Champion for Loki is loose and sets Preston loose as well which scares Gwen so she heads straight to her grandma’s house with Oliver to make sure that she is okay. Before she heads out she goes to the Fenrir wolf, she names Nott, and asks her to head down the mountain to make sure she is okay. Luckily Nott gets there and is okay. Loki’s Champion was honestly the last person I thought it was which explains how she was able to do everything that she did.

I won’t give away too much but I do recommend this series, the books are amazing.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Kiss of Frost by Jennifer Estep

Kiss of Frost by Jennifer Estep (Mythos Academy #2)

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart—the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword—with Logan’s help—I just might die by the sword… From Goodreads

I really enjoy the books that just get better each book. This time they, Logan, Gwen, Daphne and Carson go with Mythos to a ski resort for school with the other students from the New York Academy. Of course Gwen doesn’t really want to go because she doesn’t want to see Logan make out with his girlfriend Savannah. I mean who would want to do that with the guy that they have been crushing on for months now?

This time around there is 2 new Spartans in the story, Oliver and Kenzie. Kenzie is all about trying to help Gwen but for some reason Oliver is totally against helping her. Of course we find out later as to why he is like that at first. Now before Gwen even leaves for the ski resort, she has some close calls. Leaving her Grandma’s house she is almost hit by an SUV and while in the library someone shots an arrow at her. Knowing that, I wouldn’t really be all up and about to go on a semi vaca from school either. But Daphne and her grandma talk her into going for her own good.

While there, she meets Preston who is from the New York Academy. And this does not go over well with Logan, which is ridiculous since he has his own girlfriend that isn’t Gwen. Now things get weird while skiing with Daphne and Carson, she learns that she can use memories from her psychometry to be able to do something, like skiing. At the bottom of the slope she is almost attacked by a Fenrir wolf. Now she knows someone is after and it most likely is the Reapers since she is blamed for Jasmine’s death.

Not to mention the fact that while she was walking down the mountain from the carnival, someone sets off an explosion that causes an avalanche, which gets her and the wolf stuck together for a few hours. This causes affection from the wolf to her since she helped take a branch that was in its leg out. Gwen ends up getting found by Coach Ajax, luckily.

The bad guy ends up being a Reaper and also Jasmine’s older brother. He is out for revenge since she killed Jasmine. Even though she didn’t and that was Logan. At one point right before she finds out who the Reaper is, she thinks that it is Oliver. He was just trying to scare her so she won’t reveal who his crush is. I get why he did what he did. I am just glad it worked out and that they all became friends.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep

Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep (Mythos Academy #1)

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.

But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why especially since I should have been the one who died. . . From Goodreads.

I love the whole mythology concept but with a twist. This time Jennifer changed it up to where the gods were not allowed to fight amongst each other but their Champions were able to do that for them. Gwen just happens to be the only normal person at Mythos Academy, which is saying a lot since she has psychometry (she can touch anything and see everything that has happened to the item when someone else touched it).

When Gwen witnesses a murder of one of the most popular girls at the school, she decides that since no one else seemed to care about her death she was going to investigate it. Especially since she thought that it wasn’t fair that she keeps getting allowed to live when someone else is taken away. While investigating, she makes her first friend. Which is weird because Daphne, used to be Jasmine’s friend but for some reason they grow on each other and you can see how much they care about each other in the end of the book.

She also gets a protector of sorts in Logan Quinn, and who wouldn’t want that? Seriously. She wants to be with him but she is worried about what she will see if she touches him. Not that she thinks he is some serial killer but when the last guy you kiss is thinking about someone else as they kiss you, who wouldn’t be hesitant? But he takes it the wrong way of course and thinks it is because he is a Spartan and below her, which is stupid since she is the only Gypsy there.

Now I have to say that if you have a sweet tooth you are going to want to start baking as soon as you start reading because her grandma makes some awesome sounding baked goods. It actually sounded so good; I looked up how to make it myself and figured that I will be getting to it very soon.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

“Tense silence followed, and then Daemon’s light faded and he settled back into his human form. He glanced down to where my hand curved around his wrist, and then his gaze flicked up meeting mine. Charged air passed from his skin to mine, shocking me with a crack. I let go of his wrist and stilled under his intense stare.” page 131

Out Of The Dark by Quinn Loftis

Out of the Dark by Quinn Loftis (The Grey Wolves #4)

Darkness has descended on the Transylvanian Alps.
Four packs of the powerful Grey wolves – in a rare show of cooperation – had joined together here in an effort to help their pack members find true mates. Then they were betrayed by one of their own – an Alpha hell-bent on becoming the most powerful of the Canis lupis. And though the wolf’s assassination attempt on the currently-reigning Romanian Alpha failed, his plans to get Decebel, the Romanian Beta, out of the picture were coming together even as his treachery was discovered. The wolf fled, leaving destruction, death, and a missing mate behind him.

Unbeknownst to the other packs, the wolf has employed a witch to finish the deadly job and help him gain another tool to increase his power. A curse of devastating proportions will cripple Decebel in a way that may dissolve his fragile bond with Jennifer. Meanwhile, injured and alone, Jen has been fighting for her life. She had come to terms with her fate, accepting that she would not share a life with Decebel, until help came in the most unexpected form…

Vasile will have to use all his resources – including Sally, the new gypsy healer of the Romanian pack – to discover a way in which to destroy the witch, lift the curse from Decebel and reunite him with the one woman who makes him whole, and solve a mystery that’s been surrounding the Romanian pack for 300 years. From Goodreads.

Oh geez. It is just getting crazier. Sally is a Gypsy healer, Jen and Dec are still separated but it is worse than ever since he was cursed to forget all about her, the curse was originally for Fane and Jacque, the mansion that everyone was staying at burnt to the ground because of a witch. It was crazy, luckily for Jen she was found by Grey Wolves that were hiding for that witch because the girl is a Gypsy healer and also a wolf.

Throughout the story I really, really wanted to cry for Jen and Dec. They went through so much and it just got worse and worse. Eventually they bonded and married. But tragedy struck again but luckily the Fey stepped in and saved the day. Literallly.

I don’t want to give too much away because the story is great from book one all the way through. But this time Sally and Costin are learning how to get along since there is a pull to each other but they don’t understand how because she doesn’t have any wolf blood in her. Just the Gypsy blood which is explained eventually by Jen and Jacque to her and Dec and Vasile explain it to Costin.

The battle was pretty epic but obviously it isn’t over since the reason why it happened at all was the witch and she managed to get away. I am hoping there is another book, I am sure there is but there isn’t any info out yet about it. I know I don’t give much away but I really like this story, she took another step with the werewolf legend and changed it up enough that made it completely different then most stories out there. I do recommend reading this series if for no other reason than the hot guys in it.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Just One Drop by Quinn Loftis

Just One Drop by Quinn Loftis (The Grey Wolves #3)

Jennifer Adams, best friend to Jacque Pierce and Sally Morgan, spicy, out spoken, a little crazy and human…or so she thought. Jen has just found out that human DNA is not the only thing that resides in her veins, she happens to share that little pesky werewolf gene, although it isn’t more than just a drop. Now that she and her friends are living in Romania with Fane’s pack, she is also oh so conveniently stuck with the object of her affection, the fur ball Decebel.

Drawn to each other by something they don’t understand Jen finds herself frustrated by the lack of mating signs between her and said fur ball. Not only is she dealing with that not so un-frustrating problem, she now has been informed that because of that little drop of werewolf blood in her she is now required to attended a multi-pack gathering for un-mated wolves. This type of gathering hasn’t taken place in over a century but with a shortage of females among the werewolf population the males are getting worried they won’t ever find their true mates.

Meanwhile Decebel struggles with the emotions he is feeling towards Jen. He tries to keep his distance but there is just something about the mouthy blonde that keeps him coming back for more of her verbal abuse that he just can’t seem to get enough of…go figure. From Goodreads.

This series just gets better with every book. Now that Fane and Jacque are bonded and married they are safe. Or at least it seems that way. This book is about Jen though and Dec. This time the problem is that all unmated weres and anyone who has any just a drop of Grey Wolf blood has to attend a giant type of speed dating. The Alpha’s are hoping that by doing this that the unmated will find their true mate. This is noble and all that but for the people that barely have any Grey Wolf blood in their system it is harder for it to show that they are true mates.

This time around though, the reasoning for the bad guy is that he is jealous that Fane found his true mate and Fane is only 18 years old and he has been around a lot longer and needs his true mate now not later. Men, they only want what they can’t have of course.

In this one Dec and Jen are drawn to each other but they don’t have any signs of being mates so technically he can’t freak out on every guy that talks to her or touches her. Of course that doesn’t help anything because he does it anyways. They have one of those love/hate relationships except that they really do love each other but can’t talk or do anything about it unless the signs start showing. Eventually something happens and they are separated because he threatens everyone over a video of her and 2 other unmated girls from their pack.

While they are separated, Valise and his wife are poisoned. So Jen, Sally and Marianna go out looking for a plant that will stop the poison. While they are out looking Marianna knocked Jen into a drop in the mountain where she was dying, but by putting her life in jeopardy Jen and Dec now are showing signs of being true mates. Seems ironic since they have only wanted to be together and now they can’t because she is dying alone.

This book was like a roller coaster ride of ups and downs with my emotions. I think this may have been my favorite book of the series so far.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
