Glitch by Heather Anastasiu (Glitch #1)

In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.

When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.

As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.

In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy. From Goodreads.

I got this book from Netgalley a few months ago; I don’t know what I was doing waiting to read it. I loved it so much I didn’t want to put it down to sleep last night. Zoe and Adrien were sooo cute; I just wanted her to be happy after everything that she learned.

I love how Zoe thinks that she is in this all alone but after an almost disastrous run in with one of the Uppers, Adrien is almost always there to make sure that she is safe. It was amazing that she was learning all her emotions and how felt about everything. I like how they are basically super heroes in a way, they all have different Gifts. Adrien can see the future, Max can shift into anyone in a way its shifting, Molla has X-Ray vision (awesome I know) and Zoe has telekinesis, I think her ability might be the coolest.

The book is about trusting friends, trying to find yourself and being family. Reading this book made me realize how we all basically take what we feel for granted and I know I would be devastated if I was basically made into a zombie.  Throughout the story you learn with Zoe as she finds out familial love, love love, hate and hurt, betrayal, fear, anger and everything else.

Even though I was totally Team Adrien, I have to say that I felt bad for Max. He just wanted Zoe so bad but he didn’t seem to realize that they didn’t seem right for each other. Now what he did to Molla was really messed up, I felt so bad for her. Especially at the end of the book, which I won’t tell you what happens because I am sure you are going to want to read it yourself.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.
