My Enchanted Life by Laura Eno

An American teen finds herself thrust into a world she never knew existed in England’s magical community of Wode Gate. While dealing with gnomes, a cranky dragon, murder and mayhem, Emma tries to cope with her unwanted duties as Sentinel and fights to get back home again.
She finds that things aren’t always what they seem, people aren’t who they pretend to be, and someone wants her dead. The king of the underworld wants her too, but he may be the least of her problems as Emma struggles to control her powers—while losing her heart to a demon.
From Goodreads.

I was given this book to review a while ago and I just got around to reading it. It was a cute story about a girl learning about her family’s past. Especially about the parents that she never really got to know. There were so many secrets that Emma learns while she is in England.

I loved that she fell in love with a half demon, Matthew. Especially when she finds out what she really is, she doesn’t let what everyone thinks is wrong change who she is. She shows that she is compassionate and loves everyone no matter what they are. I loved how Emma never once allowed Randolph to bully her with how things should have been but weren’t because she wasn’t like him.

I wanted to know more about the demons world; I wanted the Oracle to have more of a part in the book since she seemed to be so important. And the king didn’t exactly explain why he wanted Emma so badly. I wanted to know what Matthew did while he was stuck there in the demon world.

There were so many things that I liked about the book but I felt that it was really short. I wanted to know what else was going to happen now after all of that. I hope there is a second book but I believe that this is a standalone book, which makes me sad.

I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.
