I read this book a while ago and it was amazing. I actually bought the ebooks about a year ago but never got around to reading them. After Slammed I thought Layken and Will’s relationship would get a little easier. Of course both of them have been through devastating events in their lives and grew up a lot quicker then they should have.

I love how Colleen wrote the characters, they were very believable and lovable. Layken had her own insecurities which is understandable with all the issues that they went through in Slammed. I also like how she wrote that Will’s Grandma didn’t really like Layken and her reasoning for that, I could totally see my grandma saying the same thing to me about a guy.

There aren’t many books out there that I have to read through in one sitting but this was definitely one of them. Honestly I really loved this book by Colleen and I can’t wait to read any other books by her. I don’t want to give away too much information on the book because I was totally shocked by the ending and a few twists in it that I didn’t see coming but I loved everything about it. I recommend you go out and buy it either in paperback or ebook format.

And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

Author Bio:

Author of THE DARKWOODS TRILOGY and DIRTY EDEN, mother, werewolf & zombie fanatic, book addict and a happy hermit obsessed with the Universe. Oh, and AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.

Addictions: Starbucks every morning, trolling Barnes & Noble’s shelves once a week, detesting winter, shopping flea markets and preparing for the collapse of society as we know it. Do I own a tin foil hat? Maybe. 🙂

I was born in Arkansas and have lived here most of my life, except the couple of times when I lived in Pennsylvania. I started my first novel at the age of thirteen and have been writing something ever since. Generally, I love characters in life and on paper. I pay attention to people, especially those whose personalities make them different from the rest of us: the drug addict roaming the Laundromat that talks to himself, the young, inattentive mother in the park with the meanest kid on the playground – (the entire cast of ‘Swamp People’) – characters fascinate me and I hope that it shows in my literary work.

Some authors that inspire me are Neil Gaiman, Anne Rice, Cormac McCarthy, Max Brooks, J.K. Rowling, Richard Matheson, William R. Forstchen, Carrie Ryan, David Moody, Phillipa Gregory and Lisa Smedman. I’m always on the lookout for the next great book to pull me into its world and piss me off when I read the last page and know that it’s over.

I’m a sucker for anything Christopher Lee, Ralph Fiennes, Edward Norton and Cate Blanchett. But my biggest fan-girl superstars are Alex Filippenko, Michio Kaku, Brian Cox, Michelle Thaller and Neil Degrasse Tyson!

Also, almost more than anything I love nature and this beautiful planet that I live on. I just wish everyone else did too….

THE EDGE OF NEVER Excerpt #2 – Pretending

I pull my hand from his and grasp the fabric above my boobs and pull the top up a little so that it feels better in place.

“I love you in that,” he says, “but you have to admit, it’s a distraction for douchebags.”

“Well, I don’t want to walk all the way back to the hotel just to change my top.”

“No, you don’t have to do that,” he says, reaching for my hand again. “But if you want to go to another club, you’re gonna have to do something for me, alright?”

“What?”

“Just pretend you’re my girlfriend,” he says and a little smile spreads across my lips. “At least that way no one will fuck with you, or they’re less likely to try, anyway.”

He pauses and looks at me and says, “Unless you want guys to hit on you?”

It takes no time at all for my head to start shaking. “No. I do not want any guys to hit on me. Innocent flirting, fine—it does wonders for my confidence—but not douchebags.”

“Good, then it’s settled. You’re my sexy girlfriend for the night, which means I get to take you back to the room later and make you squeal a little.” There’s that boyish grin of his again that I love so much.

I’m tingling between the legs now. I swallow hard and play it off by playfully narrowing my eyes at him.

I’m just glad to see his dimples again, as opposed to that wrathful—although incredibly sexy, still—expression that consumed his features moments ago.

“As much as I like it—well, ‘like’ is really putting it lightly—I’m not going to let you do that anymore.”

He looks hurt and a little shocked. “Why not?”

“Because, Andrew, I…well, I just won’t let you—now come here.” I cup my hands around the sides of his neck and pull him toward me.

And then I kiss him softly, letting my lips linger on his afterwards.

“What are you doing?” he says, staring down into my eyes.

I smile sweetly up at him. “I’m getting into character.”

A grin tugs the corners of his lips. He turns me around and locks his arm around my waist as we head toward Bourbon Street.

Why I am waiting for it?

Honestly I have every Abbi Glines book ever and some TWICE, once as an ePub for my Nook and once as a paperback. Yes that is how much I love her and everything she does. I am pretty sure her and Tammara Webber and Jennifer L Armentrout tie for favorite author of mine. But honestly I love that Abbi is moving out of Young Adult and going further into New Adult, especially with her last two books, While It Lasts and Just For Now. I was pretty sure this book comes out sometime in January 2013 but there isn’t an exact date for its release but you can bet I will have it the moment it releases, actually probably beforehand. I will probably preorder it.

LIBERA ME
by
Christine Fonseca
Delivery me, O Lord, from death eternal on that fearful day, when the heaven and the earth shall be moved, when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire. ~LIBERA ME, Requiem Mass, English Translation
My knees buckle under the weight of my secrets as I cross the courtyard. I stop, drawing a sharp breath. I can’t give in to these feelings. I won’t. No good can come of it. I swallow them down, and walk into Sariel’s tower.
The Guardians’ chambers are unique among the orders of Celestium. Not as soft or fluid as the Mediators and Anointed, but more ornate than the Sentinals. Sariel prides himself on his understanding of humanity. The tower reflects that understanding, that admiration. The walls are covered in intricately woven tapestries depicting humanity with all of its emotions. Thin folds of crimson and gold fabric cover the tall arched windows. The air is filled with the heady scent of orange blossoms and almond. My wings flit behind me as I make my way to the small antechambers, looking for Caim.
The first two rooms are empty, filled only with a simple desks and chairs. I was expecting something more indulgent. More…human. Two Guardians are in the next room, seated in the simple wooden

chairs, sharpening swords. They rise when I enter, nodding slightly.
“I wondered when you might come for me.” Caim straightens to his full height, allowing his crimson-tinged wings to extend behind him. His hair falls in black curls framing his face. Between the color of his hair, and the green of his eyes, he reminds me of Lorelei.
Almost.
“I thought we could talk.” Each word is deliberate as it leaves my mouth. I don’t want him to hear the worry, the pain. I can’t let him see my secrets.
The second Guardian meets my gaze as he leaves the room and Caim again sits, sharpening his blade.
“I’d hate to be the one you’re thinking of right now.” I say, straddling the empty chair.
Caim’s eyes meet mine for a brief moment. “Oh, you have nothing to worry about with me. I’m just a Guardian, remember. What harm would I do?”

A slight chill crawls down my spine. “I don’t know,” I say. “Your expression reminds me more of the Sentinals. Of—”
“Nesayiel.”
Her name sounds wrong on his lips. I don’t know how to respond, what he thinks he knows. What Mikayel or the others may have told him.
“Still,” I say when the words finally form. “You Guardians have been known to hold your own in a fight.”
“That we have,” Caim smirks. “That we have.” He lays the sword on the table and faces me, his expression stoic. “Now, why are you here? I doubt it’s to make small talk. That doesn’t seem your style.”
It isn’t. I hate mindless chatter. I clench my jaw, forcing the next words. “I need your help.”
“So you’ve found her then?” Caim’s voice is steady.
“I’m not sure. But I have found him.”
“Aydan?”
Libera Me
6
“Yes. Aydan.” I swallow back my apprehension. “Nesy can’t be far behind.”
“Perhaps.” Caim extends his wings behind him and stretches his neck. “Perhaps not.”
I don’t like Caim’s innuendos. Nesy will always find Aydan. As much as I wish it wasn’t true, their love always finds a way. Sooner or later. “Oh, I’m certain she’s with him. Somewhere. I just can’t sense her. Not now.”
“Which is why you’ve come.” Caim’s flippant tone grates on my nerves, causing a flood of frustration.
Cass warned me about accepting his offer of help. But the Council thought differently and assigned him to us.
“Yes. I need to make sure it’s her.”
Caim stands, signaling an end to our conversation. I follow suit, refusing to leave without an answer. “So? Will you go?”
Caim tilts his head, a wry smile covering his expression. “I can’t, I’m afraid. Not yet.”

I furrow my brow, scrambling to hide my disappointment.
“Sariel has us working day and night. Apparently the Council has commanded that every order train harder. Longer.”
“Gabriel hasn’t mentioned anything.”
“Or maybe you’ve been too distracted to notice.”
My jaw clenches and I grit my teeth. I’m tired of his games, no matter how true his words.
I have been distracted, consumed with my need to find Nesy. Gabriel says the feelings will pass, that they’re natural given the scope of my sacrifice. Mikayel says its guilt, that I blame myself for her disappearance. And Cass, she accuses me of holding on to a dream that can never be. She wants me to let go of Nesy, let go of everything. While I still can.
I think they’re all wrong.
Maybe.
“Look, I need to find Nesy. Those are my orders. Are you going to help or not?”
Libera Me
8
“Sorry brother. Not this time.”
“Fine,” I hiss.
Anxiety ripples through me, tightening the muscles in my shoulders, my back, my wings. Caim was supposed to say yes. Only yes.

Be sure to visit Books for YA for the final part of the Excerpt – Part 5 of this exclusive reveal on 11/3! I’d love to hear your thoughts.

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger… and they know it. From Goodreads.

Why I am waiting on it?

I don’t think you understand how much I really love JLA. Hands down she is one of my favorites. I literally own either in paperback or in ePub version of every book she has out, including her adult books. It does help that Daemon Black is completely swoonworthy, and Pepe (the cover model, if you didn’t know that) is just as swoonworthy in person. So OF COURSE I can’t wait to read this book. Plus at the ending of Onyx, I NEED to know what happens next!

Stitch by Samantha Durante

Published October 24, 2012 by crysbookreviews

Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa’s body screams at her to run… but yet she’s powerless to move.

Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees – and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell – Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.

Because what Alessa hasn’t figured out yet is that she’s not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university’s idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface…

The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results. From Goodreads.

I received this book for the tour that Samantha is doing right now. I meant to post this earlier but I got sidetracked with working very very long hours and being sick at the same time. Stitch was a pretty amazing book. My mind was blown at the end of this book. Every aspect that happened in the book, I can honestly say I really didn’t see coming and I have read so many books that I can almost always see what MAY come about in the book.

There were ghosts and Alessa thinking that she is going crazy the whole time because she sees the ghost of Isaac. Everything seemed so real to Alessa, which of course why wouldn’t it? I would have thought my parents died too if I had the memories of it. She goes to college, makes friends with certain people like Janie, goes to parties and just seems to live a very normal college life without her parents around anymore.

I loved how Alessa and Isaac fell in love with each other. Again. I can’t go into too much detail about it because obviously you would be told what happens at that point. I like the thought that their relationship wasn’t just overnight or instant, they had a friendship first and foremost and slowly fell in love with each other. And then they did it again.

I think Samantha did a great job weaving the world that you see in this book.  I literally thought the whole time that it was based on today. This book was defintely not like any other dystopian book I have read recently. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed them but the concept to this one was just WOW. There aren’t many that deal with mind control and they definitely don’t have anything to do with memory modification.

There was definitely secrets and lies in the book but that is bound to be in almost any and all YA books today. I honestly didn’t think there could have been more secrets and lies in this book because then it wouldn’t have been as great as it was. I loved that no matter what there was always love and hope. I can’t wait to read the second book.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.

When Philip Walker appears as a new student in Michele Windsor’s high school class, she is floored. He is the love she thought she lost forever when they said goodbye during her time travels last century. Overjoyed that they can resume the relationship they had a lifetime ago, Michele eagerly approaches him and discovers the unthinkable: he doesn’t remember her. In fact, he doesn’t seem to remember anything about the Philip Walker of 1910.

Michele then finds her father’s journals, which tell stories of his time-traveling past. As she digs deeper, she learns about his entanglement with a mysterious and powerful organization called the Time Society and his dealings with a vengeful Windsor ancestor. Michele soon finds herself at the center of a rift over 120 years in the making, one whose resolution will have life-or-death consequences.

Alexandra Monir’s Timekeeper combines breathtaking romance with a tale of complex magic in a sequel that will have every reader believing in the transcendent power of love. From Goodreads.

Why I am waiting for this book?

I have been waiting for this book for a year now. I fell in love with the first book, Timeless and I can’t wait to find out where the story goes from there. It was such a great story that I will reread Timeless before Timekeeper comes out. This book is scheduled to be released on January 8, 2013.

How to Date an Alien by Magan Vernon (My Alien Romance #1)

Published October 2, 2012 by crysbookreviews

High school senior Alex Bianchi’s estranged father gets her an internship at Circe Operations Center to pad her college applications. But Circe isn’t your typical military base. It’s an alien-run operation center and not all of the aliens are friendly, especially the one that tries to kill Alex on her first day. When Ace, a dark-eyed Caltian, enters and saves the day, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Can these star-crossed lovers survive when they’re on the brink of intergalactic war? From Goodreads.

This was the VERY first book by Magan that I read and it got me hooked with her books!!! I loved how the government knew all about aliens and even employed them to help with issues around the world with other aliens. I actually read this book before I read the Lux books by Jennifer L Armentrout. This was the book that made me fall in love with the possibility of an alien/human relationship.

I loved how Ace treated Alex. He was always there to save her, whether it was from other aliens in the facility or his crazy mom. He cared so much about her and her feelings that he is willing to forego his own happiness to allow Alex to make her own decisions in who she wants to be with for the rest of her life. Especially since his mom takes away that decision from her. I get why people freaked out in the book about them being together. I am more of a “as long as they are happy together and treat each other right, I don’t care.”

The action was mainly at the end of the book. When Alex had to save Ace from his mom, who Alex finds out that he is a HUGE deal on his planet. But I loved the fact that she saved him instead of him saving her. Of course, it really was more of a mutual save. She went to save him, got caught, he got her out of her prison, then they both got caught.

Either way I really enjoyed it and liked that it was so different at the time it came out. I can’t wait to read the next book.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.
