Waiting on Wednesday!!!!

Published August 15, 2012 by crysbookreviews

A breathtaking new installment of the bestselling Shadow Falls series for young adults by rising star C. C. Hunter!

At a camp filled with vampires, werewolves, and fairies, Kylie Galen has always struggled to figure out what she is. Now she finally knows the truth—but she’s left with more questions than answers. She doesn’t have a clue what her heritage means or how to harness her newfound powers. All she knows is that she needs to sort out her feelings for Derek, the sexy half-Fae who just confessed his love, and Lucas, her werewolf boyfriend who seems more committed to his pack than to their relationship. All the while, Kylie’s dealing with a group of underground rogues who want her dead and a mysterious grandfather who makes it clear he doesn’t trust the FRU . . . or Shadow Falls. Soon Kylie will have to choose: Will she stay with the new family she’s formed at Shadow Falls, or will she leave with her grandfather and embrace her destiny? From Goodreads.

Why I am waiting for it?

I have loved every book so far from this series. I can’t wait for this book especially after everything that Kylie learned in the last book. I want to see all of the characters in the book grow and I really REALLY want to know what happens between Derek, Kylie and Lucas. I can’t help but love the love triangle there, especially since she dated both boys. This is the fourth book in the series and I believe that there will only be one more after this one. This book releases on October 2.

Teaser Tuesday!

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB over at Should Be Reading!

To participate all you have to do is:

•Grab your current read

•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

“The fierce longing that had surged up in her so swiftly receded with a sharp recoil that was like an elastic band springing back. She went numb, even as Sebastian’s lips pressed down on hers and his hands moved to cup the back of her neck—she went numb with an icy shock of wrongness. Something was terribly wrong, something even more than her hopeless longing for someone she could never have. This was something else: a sudden jolt of horror, as if she’d been taking a confident step forward and suddenly plunged into a black void.” page 174

“Sometimes” Simon shook his head.”Clary, you’re crazy.”
Her heart sank. “You mean…”
“I mean that I would never date a girl who insisted that I cut you out of my life. It’s non-negotiable. You want a piece of all this fabulousness?” He gestured at himself. “Well, my best friend comes along with it. I wouldn’t cut you out of my life, Clary, any more than I would cut off my right hand and give it to someone as a Valentine’s Day gift”
“Gross,” said Clary. “Mus you?”
He grinned. “I must.” page 524

Blood Rites by Quinn Loftis

Blood Rites by Quinn Loftis (The Grey Wolves #2)

With the challenge complete and the corrupt Alpha of Coldspring defeated Fane is now free to complete the mate bond with Jacque and perform the Blood Rites. Although the challenge is done, the affects are far reaching. Once it is known that Vasile, one of the strongest Alphas in the world is in America, specifically Coldspring, TX, there is one Alpha who cannot over look the significance of this. An Alpha who happens to share Jacque’s DNA, but is this the one she needs to fear?

With her mom driving and her two best friends, Jen and Sally in tow, Jacque sets off for her happily ever after. She will soon realize a plan has been put in motion that will change her course and possibly tear her from Fane’s grasp forever. It will take a wolf pack, her mother’s love, her two best friend’s unrelenting determination, her own will to survive and the undying love of her mate to bring her home. The question remains, if she fights, if she endures, who will she be, what will be left once she is back in her mates arms. From Goodreads.

Wow, this one was definitely crazy. Even with Jacque’s new identity as half werewolf, I didn’t think her father would come into the picture. Little does he know that his second in command is a big fat liar, but who would suspect that person?

Now that Jacque has been giving the okay to bond with Fane, the day they plan on doing it there is a horrible car accident and her and her best friend Jen end up really, really hurt. But what Jen did to make sure she got out of the car was amazing. That is true friendship and you can tell that either one of the other girls would do that for her as well. While they are healing in the hospital, Jacque’s dad decides to pay a visit because he doesn’t think Fane can protect her. Which is completely ridiculous since who would be able to protect anyone in a car accident? But you know dad’s they aren’t the most reasonable when one of their children are hurt.

Everything seems to be getting better when all of a sudden Jacque gets really sick because of the human blood that was put in her body because she lost so much of it in the accident. As she is taken to the ICU, she is unconscious and she is wheeled out by her dad’s second in command unbeknownst to him and everyone else that is there. He wants Jacque to his mate since he is slowly going mad because he doesn’t have the light to separate his darkness in him that all male werewolves have.

So he takes her and the doctor to a secluded cabin. In doing so, Jacque is dying but he doesn’t know that. He thinks that when they bond that everything will be okay but it won’t be. He was so cruel to her, and she was so sad because she thought Fane wasn’t going to love her anymore because he made her take his blood. It wasn’t anywhere near as sweet and intimate as it was supposed to be.

Luckily everyone showed up and saved the day, her dad, Fane’s dad, Dec, Vasile (Fane’s dad) second in command, Fane and even the doctor helped get Jacque out of that horrible situation. I almost wanted to cry for her especially when she was pushing Fane away because she was beaten down by him. He almost broke her spirit and everyone was so worried about that.

In the end, they left the United States because it seemed that all that was left there for Jacque, Jen and Sally was heartbreak, worry and pain.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Taken by Storm by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Raised by Wolves #3)

Bryn knows first-hand that being the alpha of a werewolf pack means making hard decisions, and that being human makes things a thousand times worse. She’s prepared to give up her humanity, but the wolf who promised to Change her is waiting – though for what, Bryn doesn’t know. Still human, she must take her place in the werewolf Senate, the precarious democracy that rules the North American packs. Standing side by side with werewolves who were ancient long before she was ever born is enough of a challenge, but Bryn soon learns that the Senate has been called to deal with a problem: the kind of problem that involves human bodies, a Rabid werewolf, and memories that Bryn, Chase, and the rest of their pack would rather forget. With bodies stacking up and political pressure closing in from all sides, Bryn and her pack are going to have to turn to old enemies and even older friends for help – especially when it starts to look like this time, the monster might be one of their own. From Goodreads

Wow, let’s just say that if you want to cry, read this book. I think I may have cried hard because my husband thought something was really wrong when he saw me. I think if and when I reread this book I will still cry just as hard as I did the first time.

This time around, Shay calls a meeting for the Alpha’s because there is a Rabid out and about and they think it is a female. So once she realizes that it is Maddy, they have to go through a lot to find her only to be surprised by what they find out.

This time around though, it ends up being her aunt (technically) Caroline, Lake, Chase, her, and Jed as the adult supervision. They end up finding out that Griff, Lake’s twin that died, was able to materialize now because of something with Maddy and Lucas’ baby. Shay was still being evil and tried to get Maddy and the baby but Maddy was able to hold off because she is Resilient.

Eventually Shay finds out why he shouldn’t mess with Bryn and take people away from her that she loves. Which to say the least I couldn’t wait for her to smack his smugness right off his face and she did with help of course.

I don’t want to give too much away because honestly it was just that good of a book. But I am happy with the cliffhanger ending; I hope that there will be more books with Bryn’s story. I want it to continue.

I give this book 6 out of 5 stars. It is just that amazing.

Trial by Fire by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Trial by Fire by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Raised by Wolves #2)

There can only be one alpha.

Bryn is finally settling into her position as alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack—or at least, her own version of what it means to be alpha when you’re a human leading a band of werewolves. Then she finds a teenage boy bleeding on her front porch. Before collapsing, he tells her his name is Lucas, he’s a Were, and Bryn’s protection is his only hope.

But Lucas isn’t part of Bryn’s pack, and she has no right to claim another alpha’s Were.  With threats—old and new—looming, and danger closing in from all sides, Bryn will have to accept what her guardian Callum knew all along. To be alpha, she will have to give in to her own animal instincts and become less human. And, she’s going to have to do it alone.

Bryn faces both the costs, and the rewards, of love and loyalty, in this thrilling sequel to Raised by Wolves. From Goodreads.

The second book starts a few months later, around Thanksgiving. Bryn, Chase, Lake, Devon and Maddy are all really good friends now. They try to work things out instead of doing the whole Alpha thing that they are used too. Bryn and Chase are still really close and dating now steadily, he doesn’t stay there he is always checking on the peripherals of the group. But he is slowly showing Bryn the guy he was before he was a werewolf, of course she keeps those things to herself because they are private and they like to take the time together that they get when it is quiet.

Devon is still just as protective of everyone as he was before. Probably more so actually, since Bryn was hurt by the Rabid and emotionally and physically everyone that he changed was hurt by him. Lake still doesn’t take any nonsense. You get to learn more about Ali’s background, what brought her to the werewolves at such a young age.

This time around they are dealing with a werewolf that was dropped off on their doorsteps by Devon’s brother, Shay. He gave the werewolf over to a bunch of psychics that were brutalizing him. So Bryn has to learn to deal with psychics and to deal with getting around taking Lucas, the werewolf from him.

Eventually she realizes that an empath is making everyone feel certain ways. That she has to take out the empath to get everyone back to how they really feel about fighting a bunch of kids. Then she had to risk the possibility of losing Lake to Shay. But luckily he lost the game and his chance at getting a female Were as well as Lucas. Maddy, of course was very happy because she got to be with the guy that she chose.

Throughout the story you see Bryn deal with one thing after another, I just kept hoping that Shay would give up and that he would just let them be. Of course, he is pure evil so he didn’t give them the opportunity to just regroup. Bryn got really hurt and so did Chase, they ended up sleeping for 3 days straight and once she was out she was challenged by Lucas. So for the very first time she had to kill someone and it broke her heart because she knew how Maddy felt about him. There was so much emotion in this story that I didn’t know if I should cry or laugh at times.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Raised by Wolves #1)

Adopted by the Alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life, and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it.  That doesn’t mean that she’s averse to breaking a rule or two.

But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian’s basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents’ murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs.

But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she’s shaped? From Goodreads.

As I started reading this series I knew it was going to be one of those series that had many up’s and down’s. I have reread this series now at least twice, it was that good. Bryn is so tough, she was willing to do anything to protect her adopted mom, Ali but this time she couldn’t protect her from giving birth. Of course she realizes that the pack is hiding a secret even her bff Devon is in on it but won’t tell her.

When she finds that the secret is a newly turned werewolf named Chase, she bargains with her Alpha Callum to spend more time with him because he is like her. He survived an attack just as she did when she was younger. Eventually she finds out that the werewolf that attacked her and killed her parents, the one that she thought was killed that horrible night, is alive and actually changed Chase.

So after a horrible beating courtesy of Devon’s mom, Ali, the twin babies, and Bryn move up north to get away from the pack and the punishments that the dole out. While up there, Bryn and her other best friend Lake start looking for the Rabid. Eventually they figure out a way to find out and they have to open the connection in Chase to find out details.

Throughout the whole story you can see the romance between Chase and Bryn grow to a point that it was beautiful. They just knew each other the way that a soul mate knows each other. The depth that the friends went through to make sure they all were okay was amazing. Everyone got out of it okay and Bryn managed to become the first female human Alpha.

I honestly loved the story, it was fast paced and I didn’t want to put the book down until the very end. I loved Chase, Devon, Lake and Bryn.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
